וְלִשְׁלֹמֹ֞ה שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֤ר נִצָּבִים֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְכִלְכְּל֥וּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְאֶת־בֵּית֑וֹ חֹ֧דֶשׁ בַּשָּׁנָ֛ה יִהְיֶ֥ה עַל־אחד [הָאֶחָ֖ד] לְכַלְכֵּֽל׃ (ס)
Douze intendants représentaient Salomon en Israël, chargés de l’entretien du roi et de sa maison; chacun d’eux remplissait cette charge pendant un mois de l’année.

And they provided sustenance for the king. All his meals, and food of the horses and all expenditures for his necessities.4See I Shmuel 8:11-18. There it describes that the king had a right to demand all these things. Shmuel had told the people the king’s rights before he anointed Shaul.
